Virginia Union University to Offer Master’s Degrees in Political Science and Hospitality Management Filed in HBCUs on October 16, 2020

Virginia Union University, the historically Black educational institution in Richmond, has announced that it will be offering two new master’s degree programs in the spring 2021 semester.

The university will offer a master’s degree program in political science. This 30-credit hour program with a thesis and non-thesis options will offer concentrations in American government, the American legal system, and international relations.

The master’s degree program in hospitality management is a 36-credit hour program focused on the theoretical and practical application of cutting-edge knowledge to management of the booming hospitality industry. Learners will be able to analyze problems and develop solutions in order to make meaningful executive decisions.

“This adds to our growing suite of high-quality graduate programs at VUU, but also offers our students expansive opportunities to learn from prominent faculty and researchers in a number of key areas in the hospitality industry and politics,” said Terrell Strayhorn, provost at Virginia Union University. “We will prepare the next generation of scholars, and those trained to use evidence and theory to solve core problems in both the public and private sectors.”

“I am excited about the continuous growth and expansion of Virginia Union,” added Hakim Lucas, president of Virginia Union University. “This is what we envisioned when we began this journey. To watch it come to fruition is energizing, and it shows that the strategy is working”.
