Prosecutors Reveal That Amy Cooper Called Cops A Second Time On Christian Cooper
Amy Cooper, the white woman who was caught on video calling the police on a Black bird-watcher in New York City’s Central Park and who had been charged with filing a false report, made an appearance in court Wednesday. According to CNN, it was revealed that Cooper had called cops a second time, again accusing a Black man, Christian Cooper, of trying to assault her.
The incident occurred five months ago when Cooper called 911 and made an alleged false complaint, saying a Black man identified as Christian Cooper (no relation) was “threatening me and my dog” after he asked her to leash her dog. The two were in a section of Central Park named The Rambles, which has visible signs stating that dogs must be leashed in that particular area.
Making a false report to 911 is a crime in New York and it’s also against the state’s civil rights law. Cooper has not entered a plea and her case was adjourned until Nov. 17.
Amy Cooper is reportedly working on a plea deal to avoid jail time.
Oh, when Karens take a walk with their dogs off leash in the famous Bramble in NY’s Central Park, where it is clearly posted on signs that dogs MUST be leashed at all times, and someone like my brother (an avid birder) politely asks her to put her dog on the leash. pic.twitter.com/3YnzuATsDm
